About me

My name is Freek ten Broek. On a daily basis I work with Azure technology as an Azure Architect at Wortell in The Netherlands. Besides Azure, I have an interest in PowerShell, IoT, Raspberry P and electronic dance music since buying my first vinyl 12-inch records in 1993.

Work

As an Azure Architect I help my customers with designing and building Azure environments. I have a strong focus on architecting Landing Zones in line with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF). I work a lot with PowerShell, ARM templates, DevOps, VSCode and Azure Migrate to perform datacenter migrations and creating other IaaS and PaaS solutions. I’ve worked with different customers in the insurance-, healthcare-, banking- and retail industry, in (lead) consultant and (lead) architect roles.

Since 1999 I’m working in IT. Starting at a helpdesk, moving from support roles to a developer role. After working as .Net developer, and even as a SharePoint developer, I moved to more functional- and system administrator roles in several consulting assignments. When working with the infrastructure side of SharePoint and databases, I learned a lot about PowerShell, server deployments & automation, troubleshooting and monitoring.

Azure

At one point Azure came into my life.. and I was instantly hooked! Since the last 6+ years I’m trying to keep up with what Microsoft has to offer in the Azure platform. And it’s a lot! But I still like trying out new features and learning new things on a daily basis. #neverstoplearning

Certifications

Currently I’m certified with these Azure certifications:
– Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
– Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
– Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-103)
– Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-303 + AZ-304)

Why this blog?

I like to measure and test technical stuff. Especially cloud and Azure technology. Sometimes until it breaks. In my daily projects I don’t always have time to come up with the experiments (or to break things intentionally..) I’m writing about in this blog. This blog is my playground to write about my experiments, Proof-of-Concepts and personal opinions.
